Securing Funds

Securing sufficient start-up funds for land & farmers

Raising sufficient start-up funds is important to all sites and all our sites have had access to some funds. Usually, these cover infrastructure but not personal costs. This topic will be covered on a basic and broad level as funds are very context-dependent and change over time. We will discuss coping strategies, and explore how business planning can provide for personal costs (like through a stipend/donation for five entrepreneurs at the Food Forest Cooperative, or through a personal loan). As crowdfunding is popular amongst food forests, but several failed to run them successfully, some basic features will be highlighted in this guide.
